VATS Annual Report (2025)

Greetings from Dr. Lunxu Liu, Dr. Savvas Lampridis and Editorial Office of Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS)!

Till December 31, 2025, VATS has a total of 58 Editorial Board Members from 8 countries. 36 articles have been published last year with 55% Review Article, 28% Original Article, 6% Editorial/Editorial Commentary, 6% Case Report/Case Series and 5% Surgical Technique. Corresponding authors came from 10 countries, with mostly from USA and Japan. According to the Google Analytics, VATS drew the attention of 44,182 visitors and accumulated 119,824 pageviews in the past year, with the majority coming from the USA, followed by UK, India, China, Canada and Australia. October 2, 2025 — Wolters Kluwer Health announced a new collaboration with AME Publishing Company, an Open Access publisher specializing in medical journals and books, headquartered in Hong Kong, China.

We are pleased to share that Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) has attained its latest impact factor for the 2024 citation year: 0.4.

We are pleased to announce that the Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) has achieved its 2024 CiteScore: 0.4. VATS ranks as follows across various categories: 475 out of 568 in Surgery, 875 out of 947 in Computer Science Applications, and 143 out of 159 in Pulmonary and Respiratory Medicine. This milestone underscores our ongoing commitment to publishing impactful research in the field.

Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access electronic journal reporting the cutting-edge findings and application of video-assisted thoracic surgery, including but not limited to biopsy, esophagus surgery (esophagectomy), hiatal hernia repair, lung surgery, procedures to remove excess fluid or air from the area around the lungs, surgery to relieve excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), surgery to relieve gastroesophageal reflux disease, thymus gland removal surgery (thymectomy). The techniques of VATS include but are not be limited to multiportal VATS, uniportal VATS, robotic VATS and tubeless VATS.
