Yoshihisa Shimada, MD, PhD

Research interests: video-assist thoracic surgery, 3D-CT surgical simulation, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis with lung cancer, and cancer-derived exosomes

Dr. Shimada is a graduate of Tokyo Medical University. He received training in general surgery, general thoracic surgery at Tokyo Metropolitan Komagome Hospital, Tokyo Medical University, and National Cancer Center Hospital East. He obtained a PhD at Tokyo Medical University in 2011. He completed his research as a postdoctoral fellow in the Therapeutic Oncology Department, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, USA in 2017. He now serves as an associate professor at Tokyo Medical University. He is a board-certified surgeon of Japan Surgical Society and Japanese Association for Chest Surgery, and Japan Society of Respiratory Endoscopy. His research focuses on video-assist thoracic surgery, 3D-CT surgical simulation, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis with lung cancer, and cancer-derived exosomes.
