We are pleased to announce that Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) has attained its first impact factor for the 2022 citation year: 0.2 (Figure 1).

The journal Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS, Video-assist Thorac Surg, Online ISSN: 2519-0792; vats.amegroups.org) is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to reporting cutting-edge findings and applications of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). The scope of the journal includes a wide range of procedures, such as biopsy, esophagus surgery (esophagectomy), hiatal hernia repair, lung surgery, procedures to remove excess fluid or air from the area around the lungs, surgery to relieve excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), surgery to relieve gastroesophageal reflux disease, and thymus gland removal surgery (thymectomy). The techniques include but are not limited to multiportal VATS, uniportal VATS, robotic VATS and tubeless VATS. It aims to foster the development of VATS worldwide by providing a professional platform for the exchange of experiences in video-assisted thoracic surgery, ultimately benefiting all patients.
Indexed by the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)™ since December 2018, VATS has been steadily gaining recognition in the scientific community. This recent achievement highlights the significant scientific reach and respect that the journal has garnered within the field of video-assisted thoracic surgery.
