Beginning in September 2022, the Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) adopted the Surgery Journal Editors Group (SJEG) joint statement and pledges to "strive for diversity in the peer review process and among the editorial boards and editorial leaders."
The journal Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS, Video-assist Thorac Surg, Online ISSN: 2519-0792) publishes articles reporting the cutting-edge findings and application of video-assisted thoracic surgery, including but not limited to biopsy, esophagus surgery (esophagectomy), hiatal hernia repair, lung surgery, procedures to remove excess fluid or air from the area around the lungs, surgery to relieve excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), surgery to relieve gastroesophageal reflux disease and thymus gland removal surgery (thymectomy). Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery is indexed and covered by Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) and Scopus.
Currently, more than 100 surgical journals have signed on to this living pledge, which can be found on the American College of Surgeons website under the Surgery Journal Editors Group tab (https://www.facs.org/member-services/sjeg).
