New Impact Factor for Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery: 0.5

We are pleased to share that Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) has attained its latest impact factor for the 2025 citation year: 0.5 (Figure 1).

Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS, Video-assist Thorac Surg, Online ISSN: 2519-0792; vats.amegroups.org) is published by AME Publishing Company, with support from Wolters Kluwer (the journal content will be made available on Wolters Kluwer Health’s Lippincott and Ovid platforms). It is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed, quarterly journal dedicated to reporting cutting-edge findings and applications of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). The scope of the journal includes a wide range of procedures, such as biopsy, esophagus surgery (esophagectomy), hiatal hernia repair, lung surgery, procedures to remove excess fluid or air from the area around the lungs, surgery to relieve excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), surgery to relieve gastroesophageal reflux disease and thymus gland removal surgery (thymectomy). The techniques of VATS include but are not be limited to multiportal VATS, uniportal VATS, robotic VATS and tubeless VATS. It aims to foster the development of VATS worldwide by providing a professional platform for the exchange of experiences in video-assisted thoracic surgery, ultimately benefiting all patients. VATS is indexed and covered by Web of Science [Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)] and Scopus.

This recent achievement highlights the growing influence and academic recognition of the journal within the fields of video-assisted thoracic surgery.   • 37 AME journals received a Journal Impact Factor (JIF) this year, with three journals receiving their first JIF
  • 12 journals have one or more categories ranked in Q1 or Q2
